Power Drill — 3 days
Both lenders and borrowers are protected. Here's exactly how disputes work — from filing to funds.
Item returned in worse condition. Specify amount (capped at rental fee + deposit).
Item never returned. Can be filed any time after the rental period ends.
Item returned past the agreed return date.
Item condition or details didn't match the listing.
Payment didn't match the agreed rental terms.
Lender didn't show up for the pickup handoff.
Select a dispute type, write a description (min 10 characters), and upload up to 4 photos as evidence. For damage claims, specify the amount you're requesting. Filing window: within 7 days of return.
The other party has 48 hours to respond. They can Accept (auto-resolves in your favor), Counter offer (propose a different amount), or Decline (escalates to review). No response in 48 hours also escalates automatically.
If a counter offer is proposed, you can Accept — the dispute auto-resolves at the counter amount — or Decline, which escalates to organizer review.
A community organizer reviews both sides' evidence, descriptions, and history. They choose an outcome: claimant wins, respondent wins, or dismissed — with written resolution notes.
Stripe moves money based on the outcome. Both parties can leave a final review.
When a lender confirms return and marks the item's condition as degraded, they're immediately prompted to file a damage claim — a dispute is created automatically with the damage amount pre-filled.
